Resistance:How it works

What is Dust Effect Resistance? Dust Effect Resistance (DER) indicates a creature's ability to resist debuffs caused by your weapons (excluding Staffs). Debuffs such as Slow or Blind will have their duration per hit reduced based on the creature's resistance percentage. A creatures DER value is the same as their level.

  • A creature's DER percentage can be viewed in the Stats window within the player's Equipment window.
  • Anything above 0% but below 100% means it is partially resisting your dust debuff effects.
  • If DER is 0%, the creature has no resistance and thus your entire debuff duration takes place.
  • If a creature has 100% DER, debuffs will be completely nullified due to its perfect resistance. Usage of Staffs is suggested at this point as they completely ignore monster resistance.

What is Dust Effect Penetration? Dust Effect Penetration (DEP) represents the level of creatures to which you can fully apply your dust effect debuffs with 0% resistance. Your total DEP is compared to the enemy's level to decide its DER.

  • DEP can be viewed in the Stats window within the player's Equipment window.
  • If a creature is level 250 and your DEP is 200, the creature's Dust Effect Resistance will be 50%, reducing your debuffs time added effectiveness by half.
  • If a creature is level 200 and your DEP is 200, the creature's DER will be 0% and no reductions will be applied.

How can i increase my Dust Effect Penetration? DEP can be increased in 3 ways:

  • Equipping any gear that gives the stat.
  • Upgrading any gear that gives the stat will further increase its DEP.
  • Leveling up your character level will increase your innate DEP by 1 point per character level.

The stat can be received primarily from weapons. As long as you are using a weapon around your level range and fighting a creature close to your own level, or creatures less than, you'll rarely see resistance effects!

What are the Calculated Dust Time/Amount? Just below the Dust Effect Resistance, you will see something like:

  • Calculated Red Dust Time
  • Calculated White Dust Time
  • Calculated Gold Dust Amount

These are the post calculations after the DER and DEP have been calculated so you can see how much time you will apply your dust effect debuffs should the enemy have resistance. If the enemy has 0% resistance, these values will match with your own 'Red Dust Time', etc.

NOTE: Once you have ventured to endgame content and must solely rely on Earthkeys to continue leveling, you will soon reach the point where all monsters are fully resistant to your dust effects. This means it will be a bit more costly to continue onwards as you must rely on Staffs and the upgrade cost of dust to continue using them for lesser dust rates than the best swords in comparison. As you utilize the staffs for these fully resistant creatures, you will continue to survive and level up your Dodge skill which in turn will raise your Character Level. Every time you level up your Character, you gain 1 additional 'DEP' stat. The higher your DEP stat, the higher level of creature you can now fully apply your dust effects to! The cost of going beyond endgame takes a bit more work but in turn you are raising your max limit of the level of creatures you can fully apply those dust effects to! As your DEP rises, you can make Earthkeys who's monsters match your DEP level and switch back to using your Sword and Dusts for max efficiency!

Tips

  • Try to use weapons in the range of the enemy you are fighting for best results. If your weapon requires level 100 to use, it likely comes with a DEP stat of 100 as well so fighting any level 100 creature will take away all of its resistance.
  • If you are struggling with a creature resisting a high percentage of your dust effects, try upgrading your gear to increase the DEP (Assuming the gear has a DEP stat).
  • Still struggling with creature resistance despite all upgrades? This can happen when you attempt to do a deep level dungeon that have creatures far outside your DEP stat range. Your only option at this point is to use Staffs which completely ignores monster resistance!
