Glowing Dust and their effects
What are they?
A specialty drop in the game that can be equipped directly to the player, Glowing Dust play a significant role in the game. Depending on which dust is used, players can tailor the fight to their needs. For example, if your objective is to level up your 'Dodge' skill, you would want to take advantage of the blinding effects of white dust, allowing you to still gain experience for every attempted hit while not actually getting hit! If your goal is more for farming gold, Red dust to slow your enemy's attacks down will allow you to get plenty of hits in before the enemy does! Mix in some white dust if you're struggling with the incoming damage and you've got yourself a perfect slow and blind enemy while you whack away to glory and riches! Depending on your intended goal or situation, a specific dust can come in handy!
How do i obtain them?
There are multiple ways in which you may obtain Glowing Dust.
- Any Creature: All creatures have a low chance to drop random dust.
- Elite Creatures: Most elite creatures have a high chance of dropping dust.
- Boss Creatures: All Boss creatures always drop dust.
- Vagabonds: Loads of dust can be obtained from vagabonds. Found as rare spawns throughout the worlds and inside earthkey dungeons.
- Possessed Monsters: Summoned by a player with stats scaled based on the summoner, 'Posse' for short can drop rares with amounts increased based on the stats scaled. The stronger the posse, the more drops obtained.
What are their effects?
Glowing Blue Dust: When equipped, Glowing Blue Dust nullifies the ability of otherworldly creatures to phase through physical attacks and results in a successful hit, provided the dust amount equals or exceeds the creature's defense. Equipping less than the creature's defense reduces your chance of a successful hit. Once this difference exceeds 40 points in favor of the creature, no hit will occur. Its important to note that all other dust effects can not take place if a hit does not occur.
For instance, against a creature with 100 defense, equipping 100 or more Glowing Blue Dust ensures a 100% hit rate. Against the same creature but with 80 blue dust equipped and you will see many more misses, while if you had 60 blue dust will result in no successful hits. Additionally, a player's 'Accuracy' stat augments the odds of success, contributing points equivalent to additional dust equipped. See Player Stats for more info regarding Accuracy.
Glowing Red Dust: When equipped, on a successful hit, Glowing Red Dust will cast a 'Slow' debuff onto your target creature. While active, the creature attacks 300% slower. Each additional attack will add more time to the debuff. Debuff time added = Dust amount divided by 100
Glowing White Dust: When equipped, on a successful hit, Glowing White Dust will cast a 'Blind' debuff onto your target creature. While active, the creature will miss 99% of all their attacks. Each additional attack will add more time to the debuff. Debuff time added = Dust amount divided by 100. It is important to note that an enemy's skills will always hit regardless of blind, if in range.
Glowing Gold Dust: When equipped, on a successful hit, Glowing Gold Dust will cast a 'Loot' buff onto your target creature. While active, every hit on the creature will add points to the buff. Every 60 points will increase the 'simple' loot amount by 1% up to a max of 100%. Upon creatures death, the total amount of loot dropped will be increased by the percentage attained. Buff points added = Dust amount divided by 100. Rare loot is calculated after the simple loot and thus has no effect from loot buffs.
Glowing Silver Dust: When equipped, on a successful hit, Glowing Silver Dust will summon a thunder strike that deals instant damage to your target that is equivalent to 50% of your weapons attack damage.
Important Notes:
- It is recommended to equip at least 300 units of debilitating Dust (such as red, white, etc.) to achieve a 3-second debuff duration per attack, considering the delay between attacks. Equipping less may result in a significantly slower increase in debuff duration or worse, a debuff that expires before your next attack. If you manage to attack just before your target and apply a blind effect, it will likely take effect and provide safety, though this tactic is effective only against a single enemy at a time. Buffs that increase attack speed can partially mitigate this issue.
- If you find yourself with less than 300 dust, using magic staffs is highly recommended given that even the lowest quality of staff is a 3 second debuff time. See Staff Crafting for more information.
- When equipped, in order to make use of your other dust effects such as from Red Dust or White Dust, you must actually 'hit' your target.
- Creatures have a 'Resistance' to dust effects that climbs with their level. This resistance will deduct time from your own debuff time. This will hardly be noticeable with enemy's near your own level and is far more noticeable with enemy's far above your level. See Resistance:How it works to understand how resistance works.
